2022 Police1 Playbook

Law enforcement leaders aren’t allowed to make mistakes. So, I’m excited to have been invited to share some of what I’ve learned.

Recently, Police1 asked me and 21 other law enforcement experts to outline solutions for the ongoing and emerging issues facing police leaders and officers in 2022. Today they released their playbook with hopes that it serves as a roadmap to help leaders successfully navigate the path ahead. The topics range from crisis communications to fleet management to ambush mitigation to community police engagement to officer fatigue, morale, and wellness. The entire playbook can be downloaded from the Police1 site via a link.

I covered a less talked about topic, the contagion factor seen in mass and active shootings. I discuss how research has shown the rising number of active shooter incidents has to do, in part, with how our leaders manage the media. Included in the Police1 are links to articles as well as a number of podcast interviews conducted by Police1’s Jim Dudley. Mine is linked there.
