Parkland Speaks: Survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas Share Their Stories

Journalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas was an unabashed advocated for civil rights and the women's suffrage movements. So, it's probably no surprise that when a shooting at high school bearing her name killed 17 and wounded another 17, the students there would rise to the occasion.

Quickly mired in Washington D.C. politics, speeches, and marches, it could be easy to forget the personal stories and impact of such a tragedy. But thankfully, Sarah Lerner made the record.

In Parkland Speaks, Lerner gathers together a raw collection from students and others impacted by the 2018 Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

As the book is described on sales site: The intimate collection includes poetry, eyewitness accounts, letters, speeches, journal entries, drawings, and photographs from the events of February 14 and its aftermath. Full of heartbreaking loss, a rally cry for change, and hope for a safe future, these artistic pieces will inspire readers to reflect on their own lives and the importance of valuing and protecting the ones you love.
